Someone actually requested after my last post that I write about the moon.
I reiterate my desire for a sarcasm font. (Lords of computing hear my prayer!)
So here’s something pretty cool, this August is slated to have two full moons; one has already happened on the 1st, and the other will fall on the night of the 30th and the morning of the 31st. Now usually when we get two moons in the same month that means we get four moons in a season and hence a blue moon. However the September moon doesn’t fall before the equinox so we won’t actually get our blue moon this summer. (Now some would argue that a blue moon is actually just the second full moon of the month, to which I respond well there’s no official definition but check out the almighty wikipedia)
Well gobbleberries!
But here’s to blue moons and all the things that happen once in a blue moon! In fact, I made a list!
The Things that Happen Once in a Blue Moon (For Better or Worse) List
1. My laundry.
2. An ROE needs to be made.
3. My Cleaning
4. Retroactive Vacation Calculations
5. Phoning my Mother
6. T4s!
7. T3s! (Tylenol, although the above sometimes implies Tylenol as well)
Wouldn’t you be glad to have payroll experts help you with these blue moon things? (Well the laundry and cleaning piece of system is still under construction but Alpine has been known to make courtesy calls…)
Let me know some of your once in a blue moon lists, who knows what sort of fun could come out of that?

IBEX Payroll extends our profound respect and immeasurable gratitude to all the ancestors and keepers of the land on whose traditional territories our work takes place. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. This land is sacred, historical, and significant.
Every time we acknowledge this truth, we have an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on the wrongs of the past, what we do in the present, and what we can do to continually honour the people whose lands and water we benefit from today.
This statement only acts as a first step in honouring the land we reside on and its peoples, and must be paired with education, understanding and informed action.
