Purpose Trumps Payroll

I listened to Ian Percy speak this week at the QNET Excellence Conference in Winnipeg. Ian’s message was multi-dimensional and very inspiring.

In my mind, it validated the IBEX way of focusing on Herd members first and customers second. It is only by making sure we all feel part of why we do what we do, the way we do, that allows us to do it. This is a mouthful, but I like it.

We don’t do things the normal way at IBEX. I believe many of our customers would agree and would not begrudge us making sure we take care of one another here since we often go the extra mile for them. It is easy to go the extra mile for others when your team members and company go the extra mile for you all the time.

Our purpose at IBEX is to “make the lives of working people easier”. That starts with us and extends out to everyone we touch.

I love working here.

IBEX Payroll extends our profound respect and immeasurable gratitude to all the ancestors and keepers of the land on whose traditional territories our work takes place. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. This land is sacred, historical, and significant.

Every time we acknowledge this truth, we have an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on the wrongs of the past, what we do in the present, and what we can do to continually honour the people whose lands and water we benefit from today.

This statement only acts as a first step in honouring the land we reside on and its peoples, and must be paired with education, understanding and informed action.
